What can I do to help my computer when Norton antivirus tells me...?

that my computer has a virus but it was denied access? It was listed as high risk. Is there a free trial of a stronger antivirus I can download temporarily to get rid of it?

Norton Antivirus just kicked in again and said it's been resolved. What do I do in the future if Norton doesn't resolve it?

In the future, you may want to get a different anti-virus. I've had Norton before and it gave me too many problems in the past. It also had a few conflicts with other (safe) programs - especially games. Two anti-virus programs I can recommend are Avast! and AVG.

Also..get a registry cleaner, scan for trojans, etc, possibly might have to go into safe mode, but maybe not, run adaware scan and spyubot, which both are free as well, dont get mad but DITCH NORTON! IMO of course, but its hogware and just isnt as good.

But why would you want to delete AVG? It's just as good as norton (better, in my opinion). It's not like norton has virus definitions that AVG doesn't have...

hi,perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

That change is not wise, I lost 3 CP's to Norton. AVG is great, I use it as part of my security and nothing has ever got through. I really don't think you have any viruses in the vault, probably spy-ware and related things. When you run a scan just follow the instructions and dump the quarantined objects.

I highly suggest you purchase E-Trust security to go with AVG, or something similar.
They will be unleased to wreak havoc and raise hell on your PC. I honestly have no idea. I don't think anything will happen.

It is superior to Norton in the opinion of my computer-genius brother-in-law, and if you really want Norton so badly, get it, but keep the AVG anyway. It could not hurt.
AVG is crap.Don't buy a few Pepsi and pizzas and get Bit defender, F-Secure or CA--Etrust av program.

personally, I would suggest avira antivir, threatfire free, spywareblaster, kerio personal firewall 4 with sandboxie and ccleaner. It boils down to a matter of personal preference.
this requires an opinionated answer. i have used avg free antivirus and zonealarm free firewall for many years now and have always been happy with their performance. they can both be found at download.com. i've always been a fan of adaware for adware removal until their most recent update. i recently started using superantispyware (free version) and it seems to work very well. it can also be found at download.com

I know that panda antivirus does that, you can install it for free and use it for free, but they ask for money to do on-line scan.

The free security programs I can find online are enough.

The simple answer to that myth is this. You get what you pay for. When businesses and government agencies are spending millions on securing their computers, why would you ever think that a free security program would do an adequate job of protecting your computer? "Free" feels good to the wallet, until your privacy and security have been breached and your identity has been stolen. And free security programs are only limited versions or evaluation copies of the software. If you want real protection, you are going to have to pay for it.

Avast!Home Edition is another AntiVirus supported by myself. It contains about 88.7% Detection Rate, which is fairly good. I prefer lighter software, but this does get the job done very often.

The next one, is the Most Popular, But In my opinion That doesn't mean the best, AVG Free Edition.

At best this program is "Mediocre". It has many features, and a simple UserFriendly User-Interface. But its detection rates are not very good.

It has a great "In-The-Wild" Detection Rate, meaning it can detect many Unknown Viruses, or Malware. But its "In-the-Zoo" Detection rate is normally rated between a 70% to a 85%.

Of course the choice is yours, My preference is between Avast! %26 Avira. But many also prefer AVG, I personally don't because of its low detection rate.

Put all of these or more but you only need one firewall and thats the first thing to get. If your on the net with a virgin pc its probably been hacked already or got something.
