No, no viruses are freed up in your computer when you uninstall Norton.

When you uninstall most programs, Norton included, they usually leave behing little bits and pieces of their program. Also some of the files that are uninstalled are shared files (shared with other programs in your computer), and this can cause your computer to act up.
No, Norton definatly doesn't free viruses after uninstallation. It does hog system resources thou.
No, they do not install anything after removal. However though after you removed it the blocked viruis and trojans and such that were buried in your system could have then caused havoc on your system until you loaded AVG
no, but they live some active processes on your memory and junk files.
NO, is just because no one(crackers) is going to leave when you(computer) are in control. That is the thing which happend to you some of the virus that are recognized by Norton may not be erased from you hard disk but restricted to harm your computer. As when you Uninstalled those things got woke up and started their work and when you again installed AVG that was stopped from doings its work. So Better always be alert to stay in this Crime World....
